I am torn here because you have several really good conversations going. Right now though I figure the hardware can wait just a moment while I go off looking for this " mysterious blonde". And speaking of that, don't you ever sleep Linda. You post pretty darned early sometimes.

The blonde from the newspaper article. Since most of you can not see that and I happen to have downloaded that chapter when Paul put it out ... This is how that article headlined a Columbus, Ohio newspaper on March 1, 1936.

"SECRET NAVY CRUISE" SECRET EXPEDITION TO SOUTHERN SEAS IS ORGANIZED HERE.

(of course ya hafta wonder how secret this thing was meant to be if it was allowed somehow to be leaked to the press. Or....... was this an intentional thing... a crumb dropped for later..... much later......... you have to put your Caroline head and vision on to see what I mean there but I continue.)

" This is one of the most interesting passages ...." The officer Lt T. Townsend Brown USN, formerly a prominent member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club and radio pioneer of Zanesville Ohio, refused to discuss the voyage.
" I have nothing to say for publication" said Lt. Brown.

During the preliminary interviews Lt. Brown was assisted by a dapper youth and an attractive blonde secretary. He then checked out of the hotel and moved to the YMCA where the most likely applicants were given a series of swimming tests."

DAPPER YOUTH? Who would that be? And " attractive blonde secretary?"

The article ends with this interesting statement" Although no official information about the expedition could be obtained rumors going the rounds of the applicants could be summed up like this. A naval vessel will be used for the voyage which will weigh anchor next October and return in April 1937. Representatives of leading scientific organizations including the Smithsonian Institute, Carnegie Institute and also the U>S> Bureau of Standards will be aboard."

AND OF COURSE NOTHING EVER CAME OF THIS VOYAGE? PAUL HAS NEVER MENTIONED IT. AND THIS JUST 'FEELS" LIKE A "CAROLINE" OPERATION TO ME. NOT SOLELY NAVY. THEY WERE RECRUITING A CREW. BUT FOR WHAT? MarkC

I understand this is ANOTHER very deep rabbit hole but I think it needs to be looked at a little more carefully and with a different vision.

YIKES
This was the year the Forbush Effect was discovered. This effect would be right up TT's alley.

These orgs were prototypical in the formation of the uranium committee.

"Relationship between solar activity, defined by Forbush effects, and verification rates of weather forecasts
Journal Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics
R. Reiter and R. Sladkovic
With 7 Figures
Received October 1, 1984
Revised November 8, 1984
Summary
In previous publications it could be shown that the significant decrease in number of
thermal neutrons (Forbush effect) measured in the lower stratosphere and troposphere
is not only a good indicator of temporarily increased solar activity (mostly solar flares)
but is suited also to signalize changes in the large-scale meteorological situation in the
lower stratosphere and troposphere.
Recently it was therefore investigated, based on several years' data material, whether and
in how far there may be a significant relation between onset of the Forbush effect and
verification rate of weather forecasts in England, Scotland, and the Federal Republic of
Germany.
Immediately after solar flares we observed a considerable decrease in the frequency of
very good weather forecasts or, respectively, a clear increase in the wrong prognoses when
considering the region along the Atlantic coast of England/Scotland. This correlation is
on the average still significant for all British weather bureaus. In Germany, however, no
relationship can be established between beginning solar activity and the quality of
weather forecasts.
This means, that solar events cause mainly in the eastern Atlantic area acute changes in
the meteorological structure in the troposphere (form and number of Rossby waves,
cyclogenesis) which cannot be recognized early enough to be considered in the elabora-
tion of the daily weather forecasts. This problem seems no longer to exist in the Central
European continental area. "

Abstract Statistical analysis of a large amount of data for three solar activity cycles (1975–2005) shows that the magnitude and other characteristics of Forbush effects are related to the intensity and longitude of previous solar flares.

"INTRODUCTION
Not all Forbush effects are related to solar flares. A
large part of them are due to the activity of solar fila-
ments or low-latitude coronal holes. However, the
strongest Forbush effects are observed after a complex
of sporadic phenomena, including high-power solar
flares. A direct reason for such Forbush effects is a
propagating solar wind perturbation, whose arrival at
the Earth is often preceded by observation of a coronal
mass ejection. Its beginning generally coincides with
the arrival of an interplanetary shock wave and sudden
onset of a geomagnetic storm sudden commencement.
Specifically this type of Forbush effects is most inter-
esting for researchers (see, for example, [1–3]).
The purpose of this study is to obtain a quantitative
relationship between Forbush effect characteristics and
the parameters of preceding X-ray flares on the basis of
statistical analysis of a large number of events.
approach is based on the relationship between individ-
ual Forbush effects and solar sources, which was estab-
lished for more than 750 events. Unfortunately, both
approaches have their limitations. When epochs are
superposed, the dependences obtained inevitably con-
tain, along with the effects from chosen sources, effects
from other events, close in time. The main problem of
the second method is the complexity of assigning CR
events to specific solar sources. Establishment of a such
a relationship is not always possible and even when it
can be established, one cannot completely eliminate
subjective factors and certain doubts. We believe that
the joint use of these two methods will reduce their
drawbacks.

Since the solar storm began on October 29, I am observing a *decrease of

about 0.7 micro-rad/hour in the natural background. This corresponds to

about 10% of the cosmic ray flux at the altitude of LANL. This decrease is

consistent with the "Forbush effect". Question: is there an explanation for

the Forbush effect?

http://www.answers.com/topic/forbush-decrease
Wikipedia: Forbush decrease

A Forbush decrease is a rapid decrease in the observed galactic cosmic ray intensity following a coronal mass ejection (CME). It occurs due to the magnetic field of the plasma solar wind sweeping some of the galactic cosmic rays away from Earth.

Observation

The Forbush decrease is usually observable by particle detectors on Earth within a few days after the CME, and the decrease takes place over the course of a few hours. Over the following several days, the solar cosmic ray intensity returns to normal. Forbush decreases have also been observed by humans on Mir and the International Space Station, and by instruments onboard Pioneer 10 and 11 and Voyager 1 and 2, even past the orbit of Neptune.

The magnitude of a Forbush decrease depends on three factors:

* the size of the CME
* the strength of the magnetic fields in the CME
* the proximity of the CME to the Earth

A Forbush decrease is sometimes defined as being a decrease of at least 10% of galactic cosmic rays on Earth, but ranges from about 3% to 20%. Reductions of 30% or more have been recorded aboard the ISS.

The overall rate of Forbush decreases tends to follow the 11-year sunspot cycle. Because it is more difficult to shield astronauts from galactic cosmic rays than from solar wind, it is hypothesized that future astronauts might benefit most from radiation shielding during solar maxima, when CMEs are most prevalent.

History

The term The term Forbush decrease was named after the American physicist Scott E. Forbush, who studied cosmic rays in the 1930s and 1940s.

In 1937, Pierre Auger, a French physicist who worked in the fields of atomic physics, nuclear physics and cosmic ray physics, discovered particle showers using 2 Geiger counters placed at large distances

By the late 40’s different particles were found in cosmic rays- the birth of particle physics

Cloud Chambers: device used to detect elementary particles and other ionizing radiation. A cloud chamber consists essentially of a closed container filled with a supersaturated vapor, e.g., water in air. When ionizing radiation passes through the vapor, it leaves a trail of charged particles (ions) that serve as condensation centers for the vapor, which condenses around them. The path of the radiation is thus indicated by tracks of tiny liquid droplets in the supersaturated vapor

Cosmic rays affected by THE SUN – the Forbush effect: decrease in the intensity of cosmic rays as observed on Earth, attributed to magnetic effects produced by solar flares, which are disturbances on the Sun

And so I can put this up again with a bit more context:

Ok and also TT never stopped looking for and documenting his Sidereal radiation did he?

During the period 1929-33 Gunn published twenty-eight ar-
ticles in the open literature. Most of the items were theo-
retical treatments of natural phenomena, such as terrestrial
and solar magnetism, cosmic rays, and other astrophysical
phenomena. Thirteen of the articles were published in Physical
Review. The remainder appeared in other standard jour-
nals. During this highly productive period Gunn invented
and was subsequently granted seventeen patents on useful
instrumentation. One device was an induction-type electrom-
eter that could produce an induced alternating voltage from
a small free charge. The basic principle was incorporated
in a large number of instruments, including the vibrating
reed electrometer. In addition to these activities, Gunn con-
ducted classified research relevant to naval problems.
In 1934 Gunn was appointed technical adviser for the
entire Naval Research Laboratory. He became responsible
for the quality of the technical program and its coordina-
tion with the needs of the naval service. He took this top
administrative and scientific job with the understanding that
he would be given skilled assistance and that he would be
allowed to continue his own research on problems of inter-
est to the Navy.
In 1938 Gunn invented and subsequently patented an-
other instrument that was widely used—a portable device
that amplified thermocouple electromotive forces. The in-
strument was useful in detecting infrared radiation emitted
by enemy ships and aircraft.

Ross Gunn, who was a member of the federal government’s
S-1 uranium committee, communicated results of the iso-
tope experiments to committee chairman Lyman J. Briggs
in August 1942. This led in October 1942 to a visit to the
Naval Research Laboratory by General Leslie R. Groves and
Admiral W. R. Purnell. Later, in January 1943, a special
committee assembled by the Manhattan District inspected
the installation. The committee was impressed by the sim-
plicity of the equipment and commented favorably

In earlier papers the solar atmosphere has been shown to rotate rapidly as a result of the electric and magnetic forces which act on the atmospheric ions. At the equator the ionized layers move much faster than the solar surface proper but this relative movement decreases with latitude in the manner required by observation. The fast moving atmospheric layers transfer momentum to the sun proper and its rotation is a necessary consequence of the observed atmospheric motions. The resultant torque is calculated and the angular acceleration shown to be adequate to account for the observed rotation.

Could be a Gunn diode you said? Same Gunn that Langley has been talking about? Between the copper you said? This is just way too strange. Talk of copper coins, Gunn, diodes and it all ends up in the same thread at the same time. You think something is trying to tell us something?

Martin,

Yes, if they used a semiconductor diode it could be a Gunn diode, and from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Battiscombe_Gunn wrote:John Battiscombe (J.B.) Gunn is an Egyptian-born US/British physicist born in 1928.

While working for IBM, in 1963 he invented the Gunn diode based upon the Cyril Hilsum-Ridley-Watkins effect. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and received the 1969 IEEE Morris N. Liebmann Memorial Award.
I believe J.B. Gunn discovered the Gunn diode in 1963. The Gunn diode would be in the center of the cavity at the end where the copper starts. Look at Figure 5 in this paper for placement of the diode: http://www.nhn.ou.edu/~johnson/Educatio ... Effect.pdf

A tunnel diode could also be used to generate microwaves and as I said in my other post vacuum type devices like the magnetron could also be used but I suspect semiconductors are used because of lower electrical power requirements.

Linda, Gregg V was right about Sandy. Paul said Josephine had "dark blonde hair" and I see Joseph your brother had blonde hair. And in all the (B+W) photos of you in Paul's book, your hair appears that it may be a sandy blonde. I didn't realize that you were looking for "the missing blonde" and I got a chuckle after I read about that! I also got a chuckle about the "blue roan color" and I had visions of blue haired ladies! <g> Looks like the hairdresser will be busy...

Kim, Linda, I hope you find your mysterious blonde and also all the redheads too! LOL!

But Gregg is right, this book is 1959, before you met Morgan. But that is assuming a linear time relationship. And we already recognize a time hiccup if Morgan goes back to save Dr. Brown during WWII. So who knows? But I agree, Bahnson is probably writing with somebody else in mind. But the similarities are interesting.

Who else read that book, The Stars are Too High? Please don't spoil it for me but after I'm done reading, I may discuss this book a bit further.

Maybe we can call on you for a report on that book! And you thought that you had escaped English class, right? Thanks to Andrew leaving a copy for me, I think that I have that somewhere too . I will probably find it when I find the " Secret Life of Plants". Anyway. Nobody wait on my report!

Oh, I know, I know ...... no comments on politics here..... but I really would like to know, in the short time that we have before Friday, what some (all?) of you think of the fact that McCain has " called off his campaign" during this " crisis. Really, really would like to hear some of your off the hip comments. This is the random ideas section and I think we can go there for just a moment. Don't worry about defending your position or insulting anybody. Lets keep it as civil as possible but I REALLY would like to hear from you all.

I will start. Frankly. I think that McCain has caused a blunder for himself that will not go away. A president should be able to think of more things at once than forcing them into an either/or situation. The idea that he must "suspend" his operations is an insult to all of those who have to multitask vital chores without a break and without a mistake. And I am sorry but I actually laughed at the joke going around about the recent McCain contributor who is asking about getting a refund on her money. Linda

Linda,

After you are done with the Secret Life of Plants, I might like to read it...

As for our economy, it is in a sad state of affairs. The ONLY one that had a REAL SOLUTION was Ron Paul. And no one listened to him! They media ignored him (follow the money and who controls the media), and so did his own party.

I like Sweden's solution that one of the ladies posted (remember the ladies, but not their hair color! LOL!) Actually, I got an email today that said:
I LIKE THIS IDEA..........HOW ABOUT YOU?

I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to
America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are
200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man,
woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18
and up…

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that
equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their
pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000 .00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your
family?
Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads.
Put away money for college – it’ll be there.
Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car – create jobs.
Invest in the market – capital drives growth.
Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – health care improves.
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean – or else.

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks
who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other
company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in
our Armed Forces.

If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do
it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( “vote buy” ) economic incentive that
is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail
out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG – liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean
it up.

Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.

Sure it’s a crazy idea that can “never work.”

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the
$85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG
or in Washington DC.

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion
because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.
Kindest personal regards,

Birk
T. J. Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it’s either good for a laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!
Now if EVERYONE taxpayer calls their Congressman and gives then this post, maybe we'll get their attention! The Federal Reserve (a private corporation, like Federal Express but banksters) caused the crash of 1929 and allowed the restrictions placed to prevent another Depression to be removed. They created the dot com bubble bust and all the other bubbles to bust. Get rid of the Federal Reserve as it is AGAINST the Constitution!

Yes, McCain is not very smart. I can't believe he said the economy was "fundamentall sound" but he was parroting Paulson and Bernanke. Then he tried to say the American worker is the heart of the economy and "fundamentally sound." The smartest move was picking Palin and that novelty is waning. Obama is mesmerizing but be careful of the slick smooth talkers. They could be wolves in sheep's clothing...

The trouble is most Americans are stuck in a 2 party system. WE ON THIS FORUM KNOW BETTER THAN EITHER/OR!
Actually, there is a third choice, and that is the Libertarian party. Look who Ron Paul endorsed:

Golly gee Mr. Magic, that's seems like I piece of email that I just forwarded to you! I'm writing to my Congressman and Senators and telling them if the do vote for the bailout, then we are going to vote them out of office. Maybe we should also threaten not to pay any taxes at all too. Time for the check stamp!

For those that don't know about the Stamp for checks, Mr. Magic has an excellent file on it. And don't forget to file a UCC-1 form too. Although we have been off the gold standard since 1913, The Federal Reserve owns all the gold in Fort Knox and in the Fed banks. Let's bankrupt the banks, and then we can repeal the Federal reserve Act and go back to real money again.

Gold is a high quality electric conductor. How would it be used for making dielectrics?

Or were you just having fun with terminology?

Slow Train

Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted
Can't help but wonder what's happenin' to my companions,
Are they lost or are they found, have they counted the cost it'll take to bring
down
All their earthly principles they're gonna have to abandon?
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

I had a woman down in Alabama,
She was a backwoods girl, but she sure was realistic,
She said, "Boy, without a doubt, have to quit your mess and straighten out,
You could die down here, be just another accident statistic."
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

All that foreign oil controlling American soil,
Look around you, it's just bound to make you embarrassed.
Sheiks walkin' around like kings, wearing fancy jewels and nose rings,
Deciding America's future from Amsterdam and to Paris
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more,
You can't rely no more to be standin' around waitin'
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turnin' over in his grave,
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

Big-time negotiators, false healers and woman haters,
Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition
But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency,
All non-believers and men stealers talkin' in the name of religion
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

People starving and thirsting, grain elevators are bursting
Oh, you know it costs more to store the food than it do to give it.
They say lose your inhibitions, follow your own ambitions,
They talk about a life of brotherly love, show me someone who knows how to
live it. There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

Well, my baby went to Illinois with some bad-talkin' boy she could destroy
A real suicide case, but there was nothin' I could do to stop it,
I don't care about economy, I don't care about astronomy
But it sure do bother me to see my loved ones turning into puppets,
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

Suspending the democratic process is really Freedom Interuptus isnt it?
What, apart from the election process, marks democracy out as nothing but a short cycle, alternating dictatorship?
So if you suspend the election process, what have you got by default? Im not American, Im a subject of the Crown, so as I look up, Im just asking.

Hobbits view.............

There's this big ugly dragon, it wants all the gold, it can't spend it, it just wants to sit on top of it.
It doesn't give a monkeys about YOU, it will kill you if you have any gold.
It wants you to be afraid, it empowers it when you emitt fear.

It is very well protected, and shielded, it's coming out of it's lair again because it smells gold.
It may well simply be doing what its master tells it to do, it has all the power, but it's actually just a simpleton.
Show no fear, remember it's really a big stupid daddies boy.

The trick is to work out what the master of the dragon adjenda is ,with regards to all of this gold ?
It's allright if you keep getting rid of these dumbo dragons, but they have a ready made newer one waiting.
Best thing is to clear out the master, then let the ladies run the show, real ladies, not puppet ones.
The men are easily fooled and controlled, the ladies are a much wiser bunch altogether.

I am thinking you are joking here, right? You really do know that the banks got the gold for the Federal Reserve (Promissory) Notes they replaced our money with, right?

Think dielectrics and additions to them, in multi layered mode...
There are FAR more important uses for gold than sitting in a vault. Mother nature has been good to us and luckily another heavy element exists and is easy to obtain and experiment with. T.T.Brown 3,187,206 (June 1 1965, from 1958)

In the end I think we will all find the coinage has no backing, it works on trust and virtual logic, something is only worth what you are fully prepared to pay for it. If there was no gold the system would still work.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Press contact: Deborah Blackwell, 703-722-2821
Hyperion Power Generation to Present its Small, Transportable Nuclear Power Reactor Module
at Key Energy Innovation Conferences

LOS ALAMOS, N.M., September 18, 2008 – Attendees of two important conferences about emerging energy technology will have an opportunity this October to meet with principals from Hyperion Power Generation, Inc. (http://www.HyperionPowerGeneration.com), and learn about the company’s nuclear energy module, the Hyperion Power Module (HPM).

The first conference to feature the HPM in October is the Dow Jones’ Alternative Energy Innovations conference (http://alternativeenergy.dowjones.com). This event, October 21-22 in San Francisco, brings together the key players in the alternative energy and management space to give attendees access to business plan presentations by CEOs from the sector’s most promising start-ups, a look at which technologies are on VCs’ radars and why, analyst views on key trends, and more.

Another premiere clean energy investment event is the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) 21st Industry Growth Conference, October 28-30, in Denver, Colorado. Hyperion Power Generation was selected out of hundreds of applicants to present at the NREL conference. The NREL forum (http://www.cleanenergyforum.com) provides a deep understanding of the evolving energy market and what a business must do to thrive. Hyperion will compete for one of NREL’s four cash prizes for “Clean Energy Entrepreneur of the Year.”

Inherently safe, the HPM utilizes the energy of low-enriched uranium fuel and will be licensed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Each unit produces 70 megawatts of thermal energy, or 27 megawatts of electricity when connected to a steam turbine. That amount is enough to provide electricity for 20,000 average-size American-style homes or the industrial equivalent. Extremely proliferation-resistant, the HPM meets all of the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership’s stringent criteria for the safe and secure deployment of small “grid-appropriate” nuclear reactors for distributed power.

Conceived at Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Hyperion Power Module intellectual property portfolio has been licensed to Hyperion Power Generation for commercialization under the laboratory’s technology transfer program. The company has already received commitments for ten HPMs, priced at around $25 million each, for various locations. Three factories spread across the globe are planned by the company to produce and ship the approximately 4,000 units of the first design.
