Archives of The Cosmic Token

Post by natecull »

Hi all.

Since at least one person here has expressed interest, I have uploaded to the Internet Archive a backup of sorts of the "Cosmic Token" web forum from the Between Times. It's really just a web-scraping - which used to be a thing anyone with a home computer could do, before the age of AI scrapers and scraper-blockers - from around 2019.

What's in the zipfile is basically just a bunch of HTML files. You should be able to browse it, sort of. Not all the links will necessarily work, and there are no file attachments. So all images are gone. But you should be able to do a text search and find comments on specific topics.

Be aware that there is no guarantee of truth or sanity in these conversations. There was much sideways conversation and talking in riddles and there were multiple sockpuppets pretending to be people they weren't. And there were also people who, probably, weren't in a good or happy mental state, and trying to pay close attention to what they were saying might not itself be healthy. It was like any other forum, in other words, only more so.

But there might also be fragments of important history in here.

Best regards, Nate

Wow, that's some good work, Nate.

No doubt an arduous undertaking.

I appreciate the effort, mostly on the behalf of anybody just falling into the rabbit hole.

Me, I have enough mostly unpleasant memories from that whole period that I think I'll just put the blinders up and stay on the course I'm on.

I don't know when the audiobook will be released, but I just refinished redoing the print editions to include the Afterword I posted a few weeks ago.
